Upliftment

Upliftment
During a trip to the shops, I took the lift (elevator) in order to get to the car on the lower level, and as I pressed -1, the lift decided to go up. It reached the upper floor and a lady climbed in. We politely and friendly greeted each other and she said “You look so nice with the red; I love it that everything is matching – you look very festive”. I was so taken back with like three sentences of compliments coming my way in such a short and immediate span of time, that I started to regret being mad at the lift for going up. I have to admit I was feeling rather down that day, and it was the upliftment (pun intended) that I needed.
Just like life, things will not always go your way (I was supposed to go down), they might work out differently than planned (going up was never a bad thing) and sometimes turn out even better than you planned (was really awesome receiving a compliment from a stranger, not because we need validation from people, but because, as the body of Christ (Romans 12), we are there to encourage and lift each other up). Life can be unexpected – so let’s embrace the unplanned moments; for there is always something that can be uplifting!
