Unapologetically ME is Ryka’s first one-woman-show. Written in 2018, and with the help of the brilliant and award-winning director and actor, Luan Jacobs, Unapologetically ME was performed for the first time in March 2019 at the Pierneef Theatre.
After the success of the first show (full house), a second show was performed that same month. The show was so captivating that Ryka and Luan brought it back again in 2020, performing yet again in March, landing an interview at Maroela Media Radio station, as well as a review in the papers: Rekord Moot.
Unapologetically ME was scheduled to go on tour in 2020, but because of COVID-19 the tour was placed on hold. The show retired in 2022, when Maryka had the honor of doing the show at a church in Stellenbosch and left the victorious performance to be the last. Maryka is currently writing her next one-woman-show, so stay tuned.
The theme song for Unapologetically ME is also Ryka’s first single, Living at Last and is available on all digital platforms. The music video also contains scenes from the one-woman-show.
Stop Sweating the Small Stuff (Skinny dreams and Fat opinions)
An uplifting and humbling follow-up to her previous one-woman show, Unapologetically ME, which celebrated the years leading up to turning 30, Stop sweating the small stuff, highlights the lessons Ryka Roux learned in the five years that followed. From big moves to big contracts, to silent screams—and big realizations about people’s big opinions—this show explores what life can be if we stop sweating the small stuff. A dynamic blend of music, drama, humour, humble pies, life, and lessons, it promises an entertaining and insightful experience!
The show also gives the perfect excuse to use Ryka’s second single, which has also been performed live at a Studio Cha showcase in 2019.
