The mission is in the name!

The Mission is in the name
For as long as I can remember, names have always been a thing to me. Either I struggle to remember them, want to know what they mean, or use them to make cute nick-names. Only recently, in my ministry, names have become even more significant, as your name and its meaning can add so much to your purpose in life.
Nancy Taylor and Phillip Ryken writes, in their book Knowing Jesus, about how Jesus’ name already showcased His purpose: Jesus means “Saviour”. His mission on earth from the beginning, was clear; to save! But He also had another mission; to serve!
He served the TRUTH, proclaiming the Gospel and doing miracles – He served those around Him, with humility and Love. Then He saved the world with humility and Love.
He also made it clear that our mission is also to serve, with Humility and Love, and to make disciples (Matthew 28). That is our mission! We already know what our purpose is on earth – to serve!
I cannot help wonder that our sub-missions, are there, locked up in our names – ready to be released. My name means bitter but good – broken but beautiful, and oh my, does my life testify of that!
Therefore I know that my purpose is to Motivate – to give hope to those who are bitter and broken and remind them that there is beautiful! He is beautiful!
What does your name mean?
