He works even when we don't

Ephesians 6:12 “For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the powers of this dark world and against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realms.” So I have this silly game that I play on my phone, it’s kind of our “holiday phone game”, when we actually have time to play. It’s a building and battle game, you build an entire empire and if you need resources you battle other empires for it – no one gets hurt, or at least the soldiers heal, and the resources help you to not only upgrade your empire but also your heroes. I am not too much of a fan, entertaining violent type of games, but this one is “fun” in the sense that it takes actual time to upgrade buildings and whilst you are not even in the application it continues to work and upgrade your place (I know it takes data unnecessarily – don’t worry holiday is almost over then it is goodbye hehe).

The downside to it working whilst it is not open, is the fact that other empire soldiers can battle you whilst you are not even aware of it. Nonetheless, the very principle of the game, working even though it is not open, had me thinking about how the Spirit of the Lord and the Lord works even when we don’t.

He is constantly working things together for our good, even if we are out of touch or not “in our app”, He is busy building and setting up our empire to make sure we upgrade our lives. We do however have to battle – there are so many battles we need to face so that our spiritual empire can grow.

The biggest battles we face are also unseen, for our greatest battle is not against flesh and blood. So, much like the game, we battle even when we are not aware of the battle, but He is still working and equipping us with the correct resources and helping us through the battle, so that we can upgrade as the heroes we are intended to be.

Through these unseen battles, we need to be open for the upgrade and change, so that we can be prepared for the next battles and, in so doing, start facing the battles that are unseen.
